Gardening with Kids – Easy Peasy Seeds!
This week we were sent this fantastic little gardening set by the people at Fruit Towers (the innocent juice people).
We got ridiculously over excited by the seed packets which came with it – you pop out the picture and plant the whole thing, cardboard disc and all! Read More…
We are so looking forward to watching how these develop over the next few weeks. I decided (because, despite outward appearances, I am The Boss) that we would continue our recycled pots theme and I used the vouchers which came with the kit to buy some smoothies … what a hardship! Of course, we had to drink said smoothies to access the cartons and use them as pots, but we coped!
They worked rather well! I cut the top open and poked some holes in its bottom with a metal skewer. Bonus Boy filled it with compost, popped the seed circle on top and watered it and now, we wait!
The box was begging to join in so we obliged. I cut one of the sides open, skewered some holes in the bottom and he filled it with compost. We scattered some seeds on this one rather than using the discs.
Throughout March and April, every box of the innocent kids’ smoothies or fruit tubes comes with a pack of easy to grow seeds. There are six different varieties to collect including carrots, tomatoes, cress, basil, violets and sunflowers to get you really going with growing this Spring!
I’ll leave you today with an update from our newspaper pots. Remember the sweet peas we planted two weeks ago? Look how much they’ve grown!
